Аннотация
TRISO fuel is a type of micro fuel particles designed to not crack due to the stresses from processes (such as differential thermal expansion or fission gas pressure) at temperatures up to and beyond 1600 °С, and therefore can contain the fuel in the worst of accident scenarios in a properly designed reactor. A few of the major quality components of TRISO are the sphericity and exact kernel size. In this article, we propose a quality control method using a surrogate quality characteristic (PSA), which is statistically linearly correlated with the performance quality characteristic (X-Ray). Computation results show that the proposed design outperforms the design based on the performance variable if the correlation between the two variables is relatively high. The proposed model can be applied to a Very High Temperature Reactor (VHTR) fuel measurement system to compute the amount of reduction in cost compared with the current control procedure
